COVID-19 may have deterred spirits around the globe in 2020, but we hope that the year 2021 will provide an end in sight with various treatments being launched. Several countries including India and the United Kingdom have already begun their vaccination drives. While this is great news, we have another brilliant news for the Indian students pursuing education from universities in the UK.
Home Office has recently announced that International students who are currently pursuing their degrees remotely due to the pandemic will be eligible for the new graduate route (PSW) visa. However, there are several scenarios clarified by the Home Office which you can see below.
- Students enrolled in a degree in the UK which started before January 2021 and is due to finish in summer 2021, you will be eligible for the graduate route (PSW visa) given they are present in the UK by 6th of April and complete their final semester from the UK.
- Students enrolled in one-year master’s degree in January 2021 will also be eligible to apply for the graduate route (PSW visa) provided they are in the UK by 27 September 2021 and complete their final semester in the UK.
Given the current lockdown in the UK, international students who have enrolled for January intake have been advised to pursue their degrees from their home countries and not travel to the UK until advised so by the universities.
The flexibility shown by the Home Office has presented a great opportunity for remote learners who are enrolled in universities in the UK.
